The High Seas Fishing Experience

So, what makes fishing with High Seas so unique?

The Centrepiece/Lodge –  of our operation is the historic High Seas Drifter. Not just another float lodge, lodging on the High Seas Drifter is cool as hell. She is a historic vessel that has spent 80 years cruising the BC Coastline – but  with modern amenities to set the perfect atmosphere for your group to hang out and socialize.

Location – broken record here but since we are mobile and Mothership based, we could choose to fish in any area up and down the West Coast of British Columbia. High Seas feels that in the remote, lightly fished waters South and West of Prince Rupert / Kitimat we are putting our guests in some of the best salmon and halibut fishing on the BC Coast…period!  Fish on!

Guides – if you’re looking for grumpy guides that get on your case if you make a mistake, (we’ve all seen them) this trip is not for you.  Remember we are small and you are dealing with owners, we don’t need 10 guides on staff!

Premium Equipment – we’re talking boats and gear.  We have invested into the very best boats and gear on the water! No small, open guide boats leaving you out in the weather on bad days when you don’t hit the weather window quite right!

THE MOTHERSHIP DIFFERENCE

The centerpiece of our operation is the historic High Seas Drifter

The Drifter is a historic vessel that has spent 80 years cruising the BC Coastline. She is cool as hell, with modern amenities and sets the perfect atmosphere for your group to hang out and socialize. Many groups tell us spending time on the Drifter is what sets the trip over the top! The High Seas Drifter also allows us to be more mobile and have significantly more fishing range than other stationary fishing lodges, so be assured that your group will be in an ideal location all the time. We are not afraid to go the extra mile or forty to help assure your success!

TOUR THE DRIFTER

LOCATION

We are mobile and can fish in any area up and down the West Coast of British Columbia.

High Seas fishing grounds of choice are in the Prince Rupert /  Kitimat area, specifically Caamano Sound and Hartley Bay areas on the Western Edges of the Great Bear Rainforest. This is one of the most breathtaking and beautiful areas on the BC Coast. The remote setting means way less fishing pressure than many other areas we could choose.  It is incredibly special for our guests to fish in such a remote setting and not have to fight other boat traffic so common in other parts of the coast. Caamano Sound is a travel corridor for many different Runs of salmon throughout our season.  We have great genetic potential with many of the Chinook and King salmon runs that come thru and when the Coho and Silver runs start, it is furious with possibilities to hook into big “Northerns” as we approach August.  Bottom Fishing is incredible all season with literally endless structure and locations to explore. We can fish anywhere and we choose to fish here!

GUIDES

Positive and knowledgeable

If you’re looking for grumpy guides that get on your case if you make a mistake, (we’ve all seen them) this trip is not for you.  Remember we are small and you are dealing with owners, we don’t need 10 guides on staff! Guiding is usually done by Leif, Spike or a hand-picked guide.  We are fun, passionate, safe and would put our skills up against anybody in the business. You will simply have a hard time finding guides who work harder than us!  We’ve heard it time and again! We are here to help you, instruct you, teach you or let you work the gear if you desire.  Go ahead work the downriggers, grab the net! Let’s catch some fish!

EQUIPMENT

We’re talking premium boats and gear

We have invested into the very best boats and gear on the water! No small, open guide boats leaving you out in the weather on bad days when you don’t hit the weather window quite right! Our Transport Canada Certified Guide Boats consist of a 2021 Coastal 2825 Kingfisher and a 2021 Tideline TL 28. Both boats are dry with enclosed cabins, heads (toilets), top of the line fishing gear/electronics and have diesel heaters for your comfort. Let’s face it weather is not always perfect, these boats let us stay out fishing in comfort!

High Seas Outfitters – The Reviews!

We had an incredible adventure with High Seas Outfitters Ltd. Our Captain Mike did an awesome job guiding us on the High Seas Roller and Leif and Rick took care of providing us amazing seafood dinners and anything else we may have needed on the High Seas Drifter, a historic crew boat from the 1940’s.  It was like stepping back in time but with all the amenities we could have asked for.

For me it was a trip of a lifetime – the unique experience of hanging out on the High Seas Drifter, the beautiful scenery, hanging out with great friends and tagging along while Vern fished to his hearts content!

CINDY STEVENS, Salmon Arm, BC, June 2021

Had a great time, I really recommend this trip. Everything about this trip was first class. Spike, Leif and Rick were great and did everything to make this a trip of a lifetime. We limited out on Coho, Ling, Halibut and Rock Bass. Thanks again guys and we will see you again this summer!
